Hibaq Abyan is an architectural graduate from the School of Creative Arts. Since then, Hibaq has worked in construction with the Somaliland government, UN-habitat and within social housing here in the UK. From there, she had the opportunity of witnessing first hand development in the housing institutions in various cities across the world.
After practicing Architecture for the first few years of her career, Hibaq decided to pursue a profession in Technical construction. Currently, she works for one of the country’s leading private developers as a Technical Co-ordinator, working on a construction site dealing with all Design and Technical related matters on a 400 unit residential development which is due to finish January 2018 in North west London.
Being one of the few Somali women in the construction sector has given Hibaq the motivation to not only break expectation within the Somali community but also other ethnic minorities.
